One of ten day masters
Yang Water壬
Yang Water is the river in flood — volume with a direction. A 壬 day master goes around obstacles instead of through them and arrives anyway, which looks like luck to anyone who did not watch the whole route.
A flood does not choose what it carries. The momentum that took you around the wall takes the fence, the field and the year with it, and the accounting happens afterward.
What a day master is
A BaZi chart is four pillars, and each pillar is two characters — eight in all. One of those eight is the subject of the reading and the other seven are what it has to deal with. That one is the heavenly stem over your birth day, and it is called the day master. Yours is 壬: water in its yang form, which the old texts picture as a river in flood.
It is decided by the calendar day you were born, not the year — so it has nothing to do with your zodiac animal, and two people born the same year usually have different day masters. The hour matters too, but for something else: the hour sets your Purple Star life palace, which is a different sky arguing with this one.
The rest of the vocabularyThe four crossings a 壬 lands in
Your day master is half of a crossing. The other half is your Western Sun, once its element crosses the bridge into this system — and there are only four places it can land. Same water, four different rooms to stand in.
Sun in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius
The GeyserYang Water (壬) is the geyser at full column. The argument underground is large, and when it surfaces the next valley knows — you do not get small eruptions.
water quenches fire
Sun in Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn
The Deep WellYang Water (壬) is a well sunk into a river. The depth was always there and the stone only made it drinkable — your walls are a courtesy to other people.
earth banks water
Sun in Gemini, Libra or Aquarius
The Rising MistYang Water (壬) rises as river fog — a whole valley's worth, arriving where you have never stood. Your effect at distance is larger than your effect in the room.
water raises wood
Sun in Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces
The Open SeaYang Water (壬) is open ocean and knows it. Depth is your resting state, and you have stopped explaining it to people who need a shoreline.
water meets water
The other water day master
Water arrives as two stems, and they are not the same person. Where 壬 is a river in flood, 癸 is morning dew — the same element solving a different problem.
Yin Water (癸) →Where water sits in the cycle
The five elements are not five categories. They are a loop with two directions — one that feeds and one that breaks — and everything a reading says about strength, luck and conflict is read off this loop.

This is one character out of eight. You have four skies.
The day master is where a BaZi reading starts, not where it ends. What the other seven characters do to it, what your Purple Star chart says about the same life, and what the Western sky and the day you were born into add — that is the reading.
