What the two skies do to each other
Both halves of the crossing are wood. There is no second element to balance the first.
That is two skies out of four. The other two — the main star of your Purple Star life palace, and the planet-star of the Thai day you were born into — are decided by the hour you were born, so neither is fixed by this crossing. They can nod, and they can argue. Most of the time at least one argues, and that is the part of a reading worth paying for.

The crossing is decided by your day master's element, and that element arrives as one of two stems. Same device, two ways to stand in it.
Yang Wood (甲) puts the canopy up high. Your reach is structural — it holds because there is a trunk under it, and it costs you every winter to keep.
Yin Wood (乙) spreads sideways instead of up. You cover more ground than the timber does, and you need something else's shape to do it.

Three Sun signs carry air across the bridge, and they do not arrive the same way.
Gemini Sun
A Gemini Sun puts out more branches than the trunk can supply. Wide, fast, and thin at the edges — the canopy's own failure mode.
Libra Sun
A Libra Sun grows the crown toward other people. You reach where the company is, and the shape of your canopy records who stood nearby.
Aquarius Sun
An Aquarius Sun sets the canopy at a fixed angle and leaves it there. You cover a great deal of ground and none of it moves.
Asked about the Open Canopy
- Why does an air Sun count as wood here?
- The Western sky has four elements and the Eastern one has five, so the two have to be bridged. Air becomes wood: the old climate reading puts wind and wood together, and both are the moving, growing register.
- Is the Open Canopy the same as being scattered?
- Not quite. The canopy is wide on purpose and it holds because a trunk is under it. Scattered is width with nothing underneath, and the chart does not say that.
