One of twenty crossings

The Two-Ended Wick

A lamp wick lit at both ends. Twice the light and half the night, and everyone who has done it knew that going in.

Both halves want the same thing at the same volume. The question was never spark. It was always fuel.

Who lands here

This crossing belongs to anyone whose BaZi day master is fire and whose Sun stands in a sign of fire. That is two day masters and three Sun signs — a narrow enough door that most people never walk through it, and a wide enough one that you are not alone in here.

What the two skies do to each other

Both halves of the crossing are fire. There is no second element to balance the first.

That is two skies out of four. The other two — the main star of your Purple Star life palace, and the planet-star of the Thai day you were born into — are decided by the hour you were born, so neither is fixed by this crossing. They can nod, and they can argue. Most of the time at least one argues, and that is the part of a reading worth paying for.

How the crossing is decided

Two ways to be the Two-Ended Wick

The crossing is decided by your day master's element, and that element arrives as one of two stems. Same device, two ways to stand in it.

Yang Fire ()

Yang Fire (丙) is daylight burning at both ends. Everyone can see it and nobody can miss the cost — you do not get to be quietly depleted.

Yin Fire ()

Yin Fire (丁) is the candle doing the same thing in a smaller room. The burn rate is identical. There are fewer witnesses, which makes it easier to hide and harder to stop.

What a day master is

Which door you came through

Three Sun signs carry fire across the bridge, and they do not arrive the same way.

Aries Sun

An Aries Sun lights the second end. You do not wait to be depleted before starting something that will deplete you.

Leo Sun

A Leo Sun needs the room to see both ends burning. Some of the double burn is performance, and it costs exactly what it would have cost anyway.

Sagittarius Sun

A Sagittarius Sun burns one end here and one somewhere you have not arrived yet. Half your fuel goes on a place you are not standing.

Asked about the Two-Ended Wick

Is the Two-Ended Wick a warning?
It is a description. Both skies say the same thing at the same volume, which is rare and not automatically good. The question in this crossing was never whether you can light. It is what you are burning.
Can I be a Two-Ended Wick and still rest?
Yes, but not by accident. Nothing in this crossing supplies a brake, so rest has to be a decision you make while there is still wick.

The other fire crossings

Where else a fire Sun lands

The Sun is only half of it. The same fire Sun meets a different day master in each of these, and the device changes with it.

This is two skies. You have four.

Your birth date and place decide this much for free. The other two need your hour — the Purple Star chart and the day you were born into — and what all four of them add up to is the reading.
