One of ten day masters
Yang Metal庚
Yang Metal is the axe-head, made to meet something and settle it. A 庚 day master says the sentence the whole room was working around, and is genuinely puzzled that it needed saying at all.
An axe has one motion. Brought to a problem that needed patience instead of a cut, it does what it does anyway — and the damage is real even when the read was correct.
What a day master is
A BaZi chart is four pillars, and each pillar is two characters — eight in all. One of those eight is the subject of the reading and the other seven are what it has to deal with. That one is the heavenly stem over your birth day, and it is called the day master. Yours is 庚: metal in its yang form, which the old texts picture as an axe-head.
It is decided by the calendar day you were born, not the year — so it has nothing to do with your zodiac animal, and two people born the same year usually have different day masters. The hour matters too, but for something else: the hour sets your Purple Star life palace, which is a different sky arguing with this one.
The rest of the vocabularyThe four crossings a 庚 lands in
Your day master is half of a crossing. The other half is your Western Sun, once its element crosses the bridge into this system — and there are only four places it can land. Same metal, four different rooms to stand in.
Sun in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius
The ForgeYang Metal (庚) is the axe-head in the forge fire — heavy stock that needs a serious heat before it moves at all. Small pressure does nothing to you, and you have proof.
fire melts metal
Sun in Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn
The Buried OreYang Metal (庚) is a seam of iron in the mountain — obviously valuable once found, and enormous work to reach. People give up on you at three metres.
earth births metal
Sun in Gemini, Libra or Aquarius
The Felling AxeYang Metal (庚) is the felling axe as it is usually pictured — one clean swing and the argument is over. You end things at full weight.
metal cuts wood
Sun in Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces
The Tempered BladeYang Metal (庚) is heavy steel in the quench, where the shock is violent and the shape holds for a lifetime. What happened early to you was not gentle and did not need to be.
metal gathers water
The other metal day master
Metal arrives as two stems, and they are not the same person. Where 庚 is an axe-head, 辛 is a jeweler's blade — the same element solving a different problem.
Yin Metal (辛) →Where metal sits in the cycle
The five elements are not five categories. They are a loop with two directions — one that feeds and one that breaks — and everything a reading says about strength, luck and conflict is read off this loop.

This is one character out of eight. You have four skies.
The day master is where a BaZi reading starts, not where it ends. What the other seven characters do to it, what your Purple Star chart says about the same life, and what the Western sky and the day you were born into add — that is the reading.
