One of ten day masters
Yin Metal辛
Yin Metal is the jeweler's blade: the same hardness, a hundredth of the mass, and a tolerance measured past where the eye can follow. A 辛 day master finds the flaw in the thing you were proud of, and is usually right.
Precision with nothing to make becomes precision aimed at people. The blade cannot tell the difference between finishing a stone and finding fault, and in a bad year neither can you.
What a day master is
A BaZi chart is four pillars, and each pillar is two characters — eight in all. One of those eight is the subject of the reading and the other seven are what it has to deal with. That one is the heavenly stem over your birth day, and it is called the day master. Yours is 辛: metal in its yin form, which the old texts picture as a jeweler's blade.
It is decided by the calendar day you were born, not the year — so it has nothing to do with your zodiac animal, and two people born the same year usually have different day masters. The hour matters too, but for something else: the hour sets your Purple Star life palace, which is a different sky arguing with this one.
The rest of the vocabularyThe four crossings a 辛 lands in
Your day master is half of a crossing. The other half is your Western Sun, once its element crosses the bridge into this system — and there are only four places it can land. Same metal, four different rooms to stand in.
Sun in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius
The ForgeYin Metal (辛) is the fine blade in the same fire, where the margin between shaping and ruining is thin. You change fast under heat, and that is a talent and a danger.
fire melts metal
Sun in Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn
The Buried OreYin Metal (辛) is silver in the rock: worth more per gram, easier to walk past. You are refined before anyone has confirmed you were there.
earth births metal
Sun in Gemini, Libra or Aquarius
The Felling AxeYin Metal (辛) ends them with a smaller edge and better aim. Not the tree: the one branch that was going to bring the whole crown down.
metal cuts wood
Sun in Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces
The Tempered BladeYin Metal (辛) takes the same quench thin. You came out with an edge that cuts cleaner than the axe and chips where the axe would only dent.
metal gathers water
The other metal day master
Metal arrives as two stems, and they are not the same person. Where 辛 is a jeweler's blade, 庚 is an axe-head — the same element solving a different problem.
Yang Metal (庚) →Where metal sits in the cycle
The five elements are not five categories. They are a loop with two directions — one that feeds and one that breaks — and everything a reading says about strength, luck and conflict is read off this loop.

This is one character out of eight. You have four skies.
The day master is where a BaZi reading starts, not where it ends. What the other seven characters do to it, what your Purple Star chart says about the same life, and what the Western sky and the day you were born into add — that is the reading.
