Yin Earth己
Yin Earth is garden soil, the one day master whose whole function is to make other things possible. A 己 holds what is planted in it and feeds it, and gets no credit — the harvest is named after the crop.
Soil that gives everything away goes thin. You keep feeding well past the point where there is anything left, because stopping feels like the failure rather than the exhaustion.
What a day master is
A BaZi chart is four pillars, and each pillar is two characters — eight in all. One of those eight is the subject of the reading and the other seven are what it has to deal with. That one is the heavenly stem over your birth day, and it is called the day master. Yours is 己: earth in its yin form, which the old texts picture as garden soil.
It is decided by the calendar day you were born, not the year — so it has nothing to do with your zodiac animal, and two people born the same year usually have different day masters. The hour matters too, but for something else: the hour sets your Purple Star life palace, which is a different sky arguing with this one.
